The Chamber of Back To School Secrets Inspired By Harry Potter

Source: Warnerbros & Harry Potter Wiki

I wanted to put a fun spin on what can sometimes be boring or stressful: back to school tips. Below are five Harry Potter-themed pieces of advice pertaining to studying, having a positive year, being true to yourself, and more. See you at Platform 9 3/4.

Study Like Hermione (But Don’t Be Too Sirius)

Be as organized and dedicated as Hermione when it comes to your school work this year. Raise your hand in class and share your knowledge, take time to study extra for exams, and strike up a good relationship with your professors. But don’t be too Sirius. Refrain from being stuck in the library all year and give yourself time to spend with friends and to relax.

Don’t Let the Snapes In Your Life Get You Down

Everyone has a Snape or two in their life: they’re negative, they never cut you any slack even if you have good intentions, and you wonder sometimes if they actually hate you. Take a step back and remember that they likely have something going on in their lives that causes them to behave this way. You might even learn something about them that speaks to a good or brave character as the year progresses.

Practice Your Patronus

When life seems particularly rough or dark, remember that you have everything you need inside of you to project a “patronus”– positivity and light from your inner being. Practice belief in the goodness of the world and in yourself when the school year is particularly tough.

Don’t Drink a Polyjuice Potion

Be who you are! There’s no reason to pretend to be someone else. Wouldn’t you rather work through this school year and its highs and lows as yourself, not someone you pretend to be?

“Help Will Always Be Given At Hogwarts To Those Who Ask For It”

J.K. Rowling said it best: If you need help, advice, or support,  just ask for it. You’re never alone. Your peers are going through similar situations. You have your teachers, parents, and counselors as resources. If you’re struggling with a class, relationship, or something more serious, get the help you need as soon as possible. There’s no reason to make things harder than they have to be.
