Take It or Toss It: A Review of the Starbuck’s Fall Drink Menu

Take It or Toss It is a new review post series coming to SincerelyMC! Every month, each post will feature reviews of different foods, products, music, activities, and more. In honor of the first day of fall, my friend Joy and I decided to review the Starbucks fall drink menu. We tried the famous Pumpkin Spice Latte, the beloved Salted Caramel Mocha, and the new Chile Mocha. Let us know in the comments which drink is your favorite and what you want us to review next. Time to Take It or Toss It!

1. The Pumpkin Spice Latte

Joy: It’s kind of weird because it’s a vegetable, so we’re basically trying a squash latte.

MC: I really hope that it tastes like fall in a cup.

Joy: It tastes exactly like pumpkin pie. It’s weird. I’m not sure I like it.

MC: It has an interesting after taste.

Joy: Preferably, I wouldn’t order it.

MC: It’s like a bunch of pumpkin and then a shot of black coffee. The drink doesn’t blend together into one flavor.

Joy: Yeah. It tastes like a really generic pumpkin flavor.

MC: I’m not sure I understand the hype. I guess I can see that people really adore the pumpkin flavor in general. Personally, it doesn’t work for me in this drink.

Joy: Toss it.

MC: Toss it.

#2: Salted Caramel Mocha

Joy: I have a pretty good history with the salted caramel flavor. I love salted caramel ice cream.

MC: As long as it’s not too salty, I’m hoping to like it.

MC: Mhmmm.

Joy: I don’t know. I just got a mouth full of salt. The salt is in the back of my throat now.

MC: I liked the caramel topping the best. After that, it’s plain coffee.

Joy: If you mixed in the salt, my review would be better.

Joy: Toss it.

MC: Take it.

#3: The Chile Mocha

Joy: Oh, man. So this has chocolate and Chile in it right? I mean, I like spicy foods, but I’m not sure about spicy coffee. I’m nervous about this one.

MC: My thoughts exactly.

MC: Wait, I really, really like that. The spice mixes really well with the chocolate.

Joy: It was really surprising. It had nutmeg and cinnamon in it but it wasn’t too overwhelming. It’s not spicy like hot sauce or anything like that. I think it goes really well.

MC: This is a unanimous one: we both liked it.

Joy: I think this would be a good morning drink to wake you up. It has a nice kick.

MC: It really is a good mix of flavors.

Joy: It has this really nice and smooth taste that the other drinks didn’t quite have.

Joy: Take it.

MC: Take it.

Joy and I both loved the Chile Mocha out of all of the drinks. Even though it’s new and not very famous like the Pumpkin Spice Latte, we loved it after just one sip each. Tell us in the comments below your favorite fall drink OR your favorite thing about fall. Finally, a special thanks to Joy for helping me review!
